LEARNING OBJECTIVES
After completing this course, the periodontist will be familiar with various gingival tumors and tumorlike lesions including:
The 3 P’s (pyogenic granuloma; peripheral giant cell granuloma; peripheral ossifying fibroma)
Spongiotic gingival hyperplasia
Peripheral odontogenic cysts and tumors
Potentially malignant lesions and squamous cell carcinoma

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
After completing this course, the periodontist will be familiar with the oral manifestations of systemic diseases, including:
Syphilis
AIDS
Nutritional deficiencies
Inflammatory bowel disease
Endocrine disorders
Autoimmune diseases
The purpose of this course is to review a wide variety of oral disease processes of interest to the periodontist. The course will provide 4 CE hours and be divided into two major areas:
About the Speaker
Dr. Brad Neville
Dr. Brad Neville is a graduate of the West Virginia University School of Dentistry. He did his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Following 41 years on the faculty at the Medical University of South Carolina, he now holds the title of Distinguished University Professor Emeritus. He currently serves as the Director of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology at Trident Medical Center in Charleston, SC.
Dr. Neville is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, and was the president of this specialty board in 2013-2014. In 2005-2006, he served as President of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. He has authored 89 journal articles and 37 book chapters. In addition, Dr. Neville is the co-principal author of three textbooks, including Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, which currently is in its 5th edition.
